TRENDS: A Maxi Red Nixes the LBD

25 February 2018

There are two huge lies that stylists won’t stop telling. The first is that everybody looks good in jeans (I’m the best example of the erroneous nature of that statement).

The other is that the little black dress is perfect for every occasion. The only person who wears an LBD to every occasion is your friendly cocktail server. It’s really no small feat to avoid getting passed a drinks tray when wearing one of these classic numbers. An LBD might be a reasonable investment, but paying for all the necessary accessories to jazz it up can run a bank account into the ground. Sure, I’ve got some black dresses in my closet – a black velvet gown, another ruffled all the way down, a lace dress by Philosophy. But I’ve never had a straight, simple LBD – the most overrated item in the world’s wardrobe.

So what can we work with instead? A single dress that doesn’t have to be “turned up with accessories”? A dress that doesn’t make a woman look like she’s stepped straight out of a post-work cocktail? I’ve personally fallen in love with a gorgeous red maxi dress by Rejina Pyo. Red is a color that never goes out of style, but it gives a great deal more oomph than black.

My advice is to buy just one dress you love with all your heart, rather than dabble in a few lukewarm options. Here are some ideas to work with!

Moja babcia zawsze prosi mnie ,,kup sobie coś czerwonego” 🙂
